About My Clients
Are you feeling lost, angry, anxious, or uncertain about a new health diagnosis or issue? Have you have experienced trauma at any point in your life and want relief? Do you wake up after a long night of rest but still feel tired, or do you struggle to fall or stay asleep? If you relate to any of those questions, I have a hunch that you deserve some inner peace. Therapy can help process new life transitions, heal from trauma, & regulate your body to be able to find rest & energy when you need it
My Background and Approach
Prior to private practice, I’ve provided outpatient and residential psychotherapy services to children, teens, adults, seniors, couples, and families through community mental health, interdisciplinary primary care, and tribal health agencies. I earned my Master's in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, and a bachelor's degree from Alaska Pacific University. I have experience & training working with men, women, trans & non-binary folks, disabled people, TBI's, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and attachment style theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and outdoor walking therapy. My clinical work is trauma-informed and I often "check-in" with clients on how they perceive our work together and our relationship. As a therapist with ADHD, I am neurodivergent affirming and positive in my practice. I am LGTBQ+ friendly and supportive of people in monogamous, non-monogamous, polyamorous relationships; and those who are single by choice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people can always change. While I enjoy supporting clients healing from trauma or adversity finding their resilience; I dislike the focus on resilience when it comes off like, "well trauma made you better!" because most people would have been better without any trauma. As a therapist who identifies as disabled, I aim to be inclusive and anti-ableist in my clinical work. I avoid disability "inspiration porn;" and I often advocate for improving disability policy in Alaska. I'm originally from the east coast (Pennsylvania & upstate New York) and moved to Alaska in 2016 for college. I love Alaska and cannot imagine living elsewhere! My cultural identity was shaped through my family history and east coast influences; notably German, Polish, Irish ancestries, and regional Philly quirks. Black Lives Matter I am thankful to live, work, and play on lands traditionally cared for by the Dena'ina Ełena peoples.
