About My Clients
I work with adults 18+. I am a LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and work closely with BIPOC. My goal is to provide a safe, direct, and compassionate environment in order to help clients gain deeper insight and acceptance in the face of adversity. I believe the past is present, which is why I focus on addressing the root of the problem. I am committed to meeting my clients exactly where they are on their journey.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive training in CBT, DBT, EMDR, somatic psychotherapy, mindfulness based therapy, and more. I am also trained in ketamine assisted psychotherapy, often used to treat treatment resistant depression, anxiety, or PTSD. So whether you are unsure how to conquer anxiety, battling depression, struggling to heal from past pains, or experiencing what feels like a low point in life, it would be my honor to support you. Outside of private practice, I have worked as a clinician in crisis stabilization, long term residential treatment for survivors of trafficking, and an outpatient substance abuse treatment facility.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I would describe myself as empathetic, warm, and perceptive. I believe that unhealthy behaviors / beliefs are often developed as a method of coping with something overwhelming. I strongly believe in taking a holistic approach when it comes to mental health since most of the work continues outside of the office. I love incorporating somatic psychotherapy into this work to help my clients attain mind and body congruence. The nervous system doesn't use words, so that means you just can't "talk" your way out of certain emotions. Disconnects are often noticeable when a client says "I know ___ but I still feel ___." That's where a somatic approach can help bridge that gap. Change can be often uncomfortable for people but I will be right there with you through that process.
