About My Clients
Are you someone who has felt alone in a group of people? Or found yourself in a group of people wanting to interject, but unsure of how to? Have you struggled in class to share an answer or read aloud? Have you found yourself wondering how to connect better with others or how to work with someone who treats you differently than you would like to be treated? I work with teens (16+), young adults, and adults in navigating the complexity that is finding and maintaining a life worth living.
My Background and Approach
I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy by harnessing several theories and modalities to serve best an individual where they are rather than using a cookie-cutter approach. I am influenced by cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, person-centered therapy, existential therapy, and feminist therapy. In addition to this, I am someone who is conscious about taking a multicultural approach to treatment, valuing my clients diversity and intersectionality and addressing the influence of culture on one's nature and lived experience in communities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Passionate about social justice and dedicated to advocating for the rights of marginalized communities, I believe in using my voice and presence to foster positive change. This passion has been a part of my educational process throughout life, intentionally taking classes when possible to understand historical context and learn about lived experiences in areas such as Transgender studies, Chicana studies, American Sign Language, Disability studies, and others. When I am not in the therapy room I am often with my dog hiking and watching her swim, rollerblading, reading, or spending time with family.
