About My Clients
While I serve the general population of adults and older adolescents, I focus particularly on LBGQ and TGNC populations. As a queer and nonbinary clinician, I understand the importance of shared identity in building trust. I also specialize in working with people making major life transitions: for example, from college to post-college, monogamy to polyamory or vice-versa, and gender transitions of all sorts. My Background and Approach
I am an NYU-trained psychotherapist. I have worked in case management settings, mental health clinics, and private practice settings, and have served a wide range of clients. I also obtained an additional two-year certificate in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the Psychoanalytic Institute at New York Counseling and Clinical Social Work Services. I have completed trainings on LGBTQ competency, racial justice, and Internal Family Systems therapy. My approach is tailored to the particular client's needs, but I always approach providing therapy with a primary focus on empowerment, humor, and connection.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy can help people identify patterns in their lives that are no longer serving them and change them, while also acknowledging and honoring the adaptive purposes those patterns once served. And for people marginalized in our culture, I believe it is particularly crucial that therapists understand the role of systemic oppression in shaping their clients' lives, and help clients identify and use their power and voice where they can.
