About My Clients
I am passionate about working with individuals in recovery from eating disorders, those wanting to explore the relationship they have with their body, and the LGBTQ+ community. I also enjoy working with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, body image distress, boundaries, questions of identity, and eco-anxiety.
My Background and Approach
My goal as a therapist is to create a nurturing environment that empowers and supports you in navigating life's complexities. At the heart of my approach is a commitment to honoring your unique needs, learning about and integrating your strengths into sessions, and working to understand you within the multifaceted arena of your life. A core component of my therapeutic approach is my training and experience in somatic and body-based therapeutic modalities. We might work to incorporate the body into sessions through mindfulness practices, body-based awareness, gentle movements, and through nervous system regulation skills. Ultimately, however much or little we integrate somatic techniques into our sessions will be determined by you and your specific goals. Additional theories that are incorporated into my work with clients include Gestalt, IFS, DBT, and feminist theory.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I understand that the body can be a complex and sometimes challenging place to be, a place we may try hard to avoid! To help make the body more approachable, I always work from a trauma-informed and Health at Every Size lens that values your agency and understands the cultural and political factors that impact the way we experience, feel, and think about our bodies.
