As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have much lived experience both personally and professionally navigating things that most people outside of the community don't have to think about. I am someone who already understands many of the intricacies so that we can focus on the bigger picture.

While I cannot know the intricacies of every culture, I do have both personal and professional experience navigating systemic oppression. I know what it's like to second guess yourself because you've come up against oppression that you can't yet name or define. I know what it's like to feel alone in your experience. I know what it's like to realize that you are being oppressed and feeling exhausted with constantly fighting not just oppression, but generational trauma that often accompanies it.

Codependency often leads to burnout because we are placing our self-value on the actions and moods of others. By placing others before ourselves, we often cut out some fundamental pieces that we need in order to thrive, like self-care. Attaching our value to the actions and behavior of others can also make us feel out of control or like we can't do anything right when things don't turn out how we were hoping. We will work on recognizing codependent behaviors and implementing boundaries.

Utilizing evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I work with my clients to identify and then change distressing core thoughts that lead to anxiety, depression, codependency, and other distressing behaviors.

I utilize Emotion Focused Therapy to help clients connect with the emotions that they might not realize are influencing them during distressing behavior. Connecting to these emotions allows clients to foster a deeper connection not only with their emotions, but also being emotionally vulnerable with loved ones.
