About My Clients
Life is weird and people are endlessly fascinating, including you. Sometimes the "weird" becomes a stumbling block in our lives, and we need help navigating the rough waters of psychological change. I have worked with a diverse array of individuals experiencing a wide variety of psychological distress, including depression, anxiety, addiction, queer issues, gender identity, ADHD, grief and loss, mood and personality issues, spiritual dilemmas, relationship troubles, and trauma recovery.
My Background and Approach
Meaningful psychotherapy requires more than breathing exercises and worksheets. Meaningful psychotherapy is grounded in a human relationship. My approach is one of depth and breadth, predicated on the living, dynamic reality of the psyche and the unconscious, and the relationship formed between us within the psychotherapeutic frame. My broadly psychodynamic evidence-based approach incorporates both psychoanalytic and Jungian methods, as well as drawing from a deep well of other psychotherapeutic modalities as needed. All my work is filtered through an anti-oppression, anti-racist, critical lens that acknowledges generations of damage committed by white, patriarchal, colonialist power structures and our collective need for liberation. When I work with you, I commit to being with you all the way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The psyche is real. Its depths can be explored, mapped, and understood in ways we might never have imagined. In the context of a psychotherapeutic relationship, this exploration can be done with another human being who is on the path with you. I am a "both/and" rather than an "either/or" person. I love both cats AND dogs. This universe we inhabit is full of nuance and grey areas that defy easy, binary categorization. This includes humans. We are curiously constellated infinite beings with infinite capacities for change and growth, creative expression, and personal agency, and I'm here to help you taste that. For decades, I have been and remain an outspoken and unapologetic ally of and advocate for Black lives, my trans brothers and sisters, and anyone who has ever felt marginalized. I will never presume to judge or discriminate against anyone for any reason.
