About My Clients
My areas of specialty include: LGBTQ populations, alternative family structures (specifically poly arrangements), kink, sexuality, gender identity, grief, and trauma. Adolescents are a population that I fully enjoy working with; on the flip side, working with parents to support them as they manage all of their identity roles.
My Background and Approach
Working from family systems perspective that is informed by feminist & queer theory and cultural humility, I like to view you from holistic perspective, paying attention to the whole of your identity. My goal is form a collaborative relationship to increase self-awareness, recognize strengths, and create achievable goals. I am a clinical social worker with an MSW from University of Albany's School of Social Welfare. Earlier graduate work was a Master of Psychology, concentrating in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally I spent over ten years working as a birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator, which has offered me a unique background for working with families. In addition I completed a certificate training for working with victims of assault to enhance my knowledge of trauma and its effects.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Everyone has a unique voice and I want to offer a held environment where you can build trust and safety to explore yourself, to grow, to challenge yourself (and me). While signs can be trite, it is true that I believe (among other things): humans are not illegal, kindness matters, black lives matter, and that love is love. I identify as queer, white, jewish, and come from a low-middle class background. Also I am an animal lover, knitter, and listen to a lot of music.
