About My Clients
The clients I typically serve are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, chronic stress, social justice issues, queer issues, and neurodivergent living.
My Background and Approach
I approach therapy from the present moment using person-centered methods and trauma-informed practices. During beginning sessions, you can expect information gathering, getting to know you as a client, and a warm, safe environment. Later in therapy, we may apply agreed-upon skills, exercises, and interventions to help you shift away from negative ways of thinking and being and move toward calm, resilience, and content self-regulation. For clients with trauma, there will be an emphasis on achieving self-regulation before deeply exploring trauma in a safe, contained manner called trauma titration.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are already hard on ourselves, and in a highly individualistic world, the last person we need to work against us is ourselves. By working through difficulties in a present manner, we can rewrite our way of being in the present through practice and compassion. Each day presents us with the opportunity for improvement, even at our worst.
