Accepting Clients

So, BOOM! Turns out saying "aint that just the way" doesn't always get us to where we want to be. That's where I come in!

Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Raleigh, NC

About My Clients

Teenage-hood can be ROUGH. It's when teens want independence and are figuring out their identity and parents would just like to know what's going on. We say things we don't mean or we aren't finding a way to communicate where everyone feels heard. So many other factors have an impact like trauma, attachment, oppression, timeframes, shame, world events, culture, and family history. I could keep that list going forever and that's too much. Let's create a space together to figure it out.

My Background and Approach

I am originally from Hillsborough, North Carolina and I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both my BA in Sociology and my MSW in Social Work. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I began my practice in community mental health where I provided intensive in-home and outpatient services to children and their families in Raleigh, North Carolina. During that time, I’ve grown an interest in working with teenagers or later adolescence (11 year old +) and their families. I am passionate about helping my clients understand their feelings and emotions, and figuring out how to navigate growing up and changing relationships. I especially like working with those who are neurodivergent (ASD, ADHD). I strive to always bring warmth and gentleness with me and an abundance of excitement for when you make progress towards your goals. I also like to point out when my clients do something awesome because we don’t always see it ourselves!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe systematic oppression and trauma deeply impact our lives everyday, so my goal is to always create an environment that does not recreate trauma and use language that honors your experiences. I value honoring every identity and I am always seeking understanding and connection. I believe that if generational trauma is a thing then generational healing is too. I'm passionate about anti-racist work and the queer community. When not working, I am probably doing one of these things (listed in order of likelihood):goofing with my puppies Daphne and Velma (ZOINKS!), attempting to start a new hobby I just read about online one time; reading about recent sociological principles; sipping a sweet tea or a hot breakfast tea or hot coco, depending on the weather; singing along to that Beyonce song; or trying to climb a tree.
