About My Clients
As an adult, you are beginning to realize that your childhood wasn’t “just normal”. You left a high control religious environment. You got away from total chaos in your family. Or maybe you were rejected when you came out or didn’t believe what the church taught you. Either way, you thought you could just move on but you can’t. This experience has left you totally destabilized. You are not alone. There is hope. You can create a meaningful, authentic, and empowered life. And I can help.
My Background and Approach
I am passionate about creating an experience that changes the way you live outside of the therapy room. My style as a therapist is collaborative, holistic, and relationally focused. Because I take a specialty approach in counseling, our sessions will feel like a dialogue instead of a monologue. I will share any tools, insights, and reflections with you from my expertise but I view you as the expert of your life, so we work together to find what fits. I like feedback and tailor my approach to each individual or couple I am working with. I was trained at the University of Florida and am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, this means I have mental health training and additional training in working with relationships. If this sounds like a good fit for you- set up a complimentary consultation today!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Because of my upbringing in a high control religious setting, I thought something was wrong with me when I started to question my beliefs. But these questions led to more questions which led to isolation. I couldn’t talk to anyone about my beliefs changing because I was afraid I’d be rejected or worse… condemned. I became so anxious about who I was becoming. The fear and shame that I was not good enough was only getting worse. I didn’t know what to do or who to talk to. I became stuck in the message “I am not enough”. Thankfully, I had a turning point. I began counseling. My therapist provided a safe space to heal from my past. Through ongoing therapeutic support I tapped into my authentic self- as a survivor of religious trauma and as a queer person. I am still in process but I am immensely grateful to have experienced healing and empowerment on my journey so far. Now I have the privilege to help people move through trauma and connect with their authentic selves too.
