About My Clients
Do you wonder what your inner voice would say if given the chance for full, authentic expression? Mental health challenges contribute to the quieting or protecting of our authentic selves. In truth, your story contains inherent wisdom that's the key to growth and transformation. I work primarily with LGBTQIA+ folks, individuals in non-traditional relationships, and those seeking support for anxiety, phobias, depression, shame, grief, and codependency.
My Background and Approach
My personal journey to becoming a therapist includes healing from substance use and codependency, claiming my identity and joy as non-binary and queer, and making peace with my bodymind through healing somatic practices. I believe there are myriad reasons that contribute to the quieting of our authentic selves—individual, family, and intergenerational trauma, oppression, genetics, and sometimes just the inherent challenges of living in our world. Therapy is not a one-sized fits all endeavor—you are the master of your experiences and healing. I use a variety of modalities and trauma-informed approaches tailored to your goals, including CBT, DBT, solution-focused, parts work, and somatic-based practices. I specialize in EMDR. My approach to therapy is collaborative and encouraging. I believe healing and transformation happen when we can create a safe space for you to give voice to your story, to find self-compassion, and to embrace your authenticity.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the mind/body/heart/spirit connection, and that working to heal and transform one area of our lives can have a powerful and positive impact on other areas of our lives and the lives of others. I believe that if we are going to work toward justice and equity for all people, we must do the inner work first. I believe that vulnerability is the lost love language. I believe we all have basic goodness, that we have to give our feelings acknowledgment and nurturing, and that above all, we are deserving of our own love.
