About My Clients
I am kink-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirming and have experience working with people of varying gender identities. I have worked with people experiencing homelessness and with sex workers. I have a strong understanding of the complex nature of the intersectionality of trauma, addiction, mental health disorders, and racial and social injustice that can lead to dysfunction. I also have an extensive background in ageing and the impact of the ageing process on emotional and mental health.
My Background and Approach
The human connection is the basis for my work with clients. Cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, art therapy and narrative therapy form the basis of my toolkit; but, an open, accepting space for honest communication and reflection is what sets the stage for growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I love to give of my time to causes that are dear to my heart. My love of elders led me to volunteer with Meals-on-Wheels during COVID-19 shutdown, as well as work with my dog as a volunteer with Therapy Dogs International. I have been a volunteer with Greensboro Pride and served on the Greensboro Mayors Committee on Persons with Disabilities.
