About My Clients

Navigating pregnancy and the first year with a new baby can be really hard. Being in this huge life transition throws a lot of things into contrast. Maybe you're noticing cycles of behavior, within yourself or generationally, that you don't want to pass onto your baby. Or perhaps every day feels a little more lonely and less fulfilling. You don't want to be seen as a bad parent, but keeping all of these thoughts inside is beginning to rip you at your seams. You deserve support and to be heard.

My Background and Approach

I come from a somatic (in body) practice. Many therapists utilize a "top down" approach, working on problem solving or processing so as to regulate and finally connect to self. I flip that on its head. I work with my clients to connect to their body so that they can regulate, then the problem solving or processing comes organically and is sustainable. I find the greatest healing happens when I attune to my client's needs and provide them the tools they need to forge their own change. My highly collaborative approach means that no two clients will ever receive the same treatment in the same treatment time frame. My goal for each of my clients is that they eventually won't need me. That means I provide a lot of information about how our brains and bodies work, share concrete coping skills, and work with each client to create their own toolbox to navigate their everyday life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

PTSD, postpartum depression, problems in a relationship--all of these things are, at their source, expressions of disconnection. Disconnections from the self, the body, and others. The connection I make with my clients is the bedrock of healing and growth. It is why I love this profession so much. In a world of tweets and posts, we are interacting with more people than ever before, but true connection seems to be so often lost. Learning about the brain and nervous system has had a profound effect on my professional practice and also within my personal life. I live the techniques that I share with my clients. I know that what resonates for me may not resonate with others, so I am not in the business of forcing an agenda, but I am walking the walk of the skills I share. Through my personal therapy and professional consultation, I am constantly finding new insight that deepens my ability to hold space for others as they find theirs.
