Stress and trauma can continue to have an impact on our lives, in big and small ways, for years afterwards. I provide individual counseling to adults experiencing a range of difficulties. I specialize in working with trauma survivors, including child abuse and domestic violence. The meaning of ‘wellness’ is unique to each person, and I would love to help you find the balance that works for you.
My Background and Approach
My counseling approach is relational and collaborative, and my goal is to empower you on your path to healing. I aim to center your experiences in a healing process that is culturally responsive and social justice-oriented. I use a combination of these counseling tools: -- EMDR Therapy to process memories of distressing experiences and calm your nervous system. -- Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy to increase emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills. -- Talk therapy to identify behavioral and thought patterns that no longer serve you and transform them to meet your goals. -- Mindfulness techniques to give you greater awareness and control over your inner world.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I provide an affirming, safe space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their families. As a member of this community myself, I would be honored to be a part of your journey. I believe that working toward wellness is a subversive act for marginalized communities in our society. As Audre Lorde said, "Caring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare." I honor all identities and backgrounds, and I want to help you navigate any challenges inside or out.
