About My Clients
Psychotherapy and taking the first step in initiating services can often feel awkward or almost even scary. But, the personal work you do in therapy can be one of the most rewarding efforts you can undertake. Grief, complex relationships, trauma, anxiety, depression, career and life dissatisfaction, life adjustments, and intimacy and sexuality challenges amongst so many other things can all be reasons to talk to a professional to support you.
My Background and Approach
I've been a psychotherapist for five years. Before becoming a therapist, I worked for over fifteen years as a social worker in child welfare, school social work, and hospital case management. I have a bachelor's degree from Florida A&M University and a master's from Florida State University. My approach is genuine, respectful, compassionate, humorous, and, most importantly, nonjudgmental. I am trained to help people achieve the life they envision. Usually, this involves changing how you think about things and how you feel about yourself and bringing more positive and supportive energy into your life. I have completed continuing education in substance abuse, trauma, cognitive behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, and several other modalities I will tailor to help you reach your treatment goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the capacity to change the trajectory of their lives if they are unhappy in any area with consistency and hard work. Providing yourself with self-love, kindness, and self-respect is key to believing in yourself. It all starts with you. I am an advocate for the LGBTQ+, African-American, Hispanic, and any disenfranchised group.
