About My Clients

Prioritizing mental health today can be so difficult to do today, but is important now more than ever. Along with prioritizing mental health, many of us engage in school, work, relationships, family dynamics, and friendships. After a while, many of these pressures may start to affect us in different ways leading us to experience anxiety, stress, bouts of sadness, irritability, and so much more. I always make sure to create a safe place so that healing can begin.

My Background and Approach

I have clinical experience with adolescents and young adults and specializes in diverse populations. I understand the barriers that deter many, especially people of color from seeking out mental health services. Therefore, I strive to create a safe space strongly emphasizing cultural sensitivity and relevance. My specialties include Trauma, Depression, and Anxiety, in which I am certified in Trauma-Focused- CBT and uses Narrative Therapy in practice. Ultimately, I believe that there is no "one size fits all" in therapy, and know when to use an integrative perspective to identify and harness each of my client’s individual strengths to tailor interventions based on presenting symptoms. I strive to create a safe space for all clients, in which they feel valued and respected.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am very passionate about advocating for and providing minority groups with therapeutic interventions, I've always found my place working with people who have faced many adverse situations with a plethora of mental health disorders, as I've had years of experience in schools and community health centers. With that being said, I believe it is important that you find 'the right fit' with any mental health professional, as we can dive into levels of vulnerability and honesty when there is a basis of trust. To build trust, we must talk a great deal about your world views, how you see your presenting problems and what you feel like precipitated the things you may be going through in life. Many times, when we are young we obtain many preconceived notions about who we are and what the world is from our parents or whoever raised us, and so we grow with that mindset. Identifying, understanding, and re-learning are usually at the basis of healing.
