About My Clients
I frequently work with people that have complex trauma/complex PTSD, insecure attachment patterns, LGBTQIA+ identities, ADHD, and Autism. Clients often come to me feeling "stuck", deeply misunderstood, repeating painful patterns, having had negative therapy experiences in the past, feeling like "nothing works", and have a history of intellectualizing their feelings.
My Background and Approach
I utilize a mix of therapeutic approaches including: feminist, attachment based, experiential, somatic, and internal family systems (IFS). Experiential and somatic techniques allow for room to get deeper than traditional talk therapy, which can be beneficial for trauma. With a focus on how trauma responses, attachment adaptations, and our nervous system adjust to help us survive—rather than viewing them as “maladaptive” or through a pathologizing lens. I have found experiential and somatic techniques to be beneficial for clients that feel “stuck”, have tried various therapeutic approaches without success, are unable to access feelings, or intellectualize rather than feel.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe it is imperative to provide a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for everyone I work with. My approach to therapy values diversity while acknowledging the reality of marginalization, inequity, and injustice. My style is non-coercive, non-pathologizing, sex positive, and harm reduction based.
