About My Clients
I have 25 years experience working in social services. I have spent a lot of my personal and professional life advocating for the LGBTQ+ community, specifically for access to affirming health care for transgender, non-binary, genderqueer people. I feel so honored to have been a witness to folks as they come into alignment with themselves! I also have experience working with Veterans, addressing trauma and moral injury.
My Background and Approach
I approach our work together from a place of tenderness and compassion. I am a light-hearted person and love to bring this (and sometimes humor, if appropriate) into sessions with you. I work from a relational place. I believe that each person possesses a very unique and beautiful identity. I envision my role in this work as one of helping you recognize and honor your truest self. I meet each person where they are and strive to build genuine rapport, allowing for openness that is contained in safety. I respect the place in which the different aspects of a person's life intersect and offer a reflection of your whole being. I recognize the impact that oppression and social aggression can have on a person's emotional and physical well being and can help you learn to nurture and heal the parts of yourself that have been wounded. I am committed to helping you access and cultivate your resilience and self love.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that kindness and compassion are medicine. That deep listening is medicine. Music is medicine. Connection is medicine. Nature is medicine. Food is medicine. I believe in the endless capacity we humans have for change. I believe that feeling better is possible and can that we can come to healing through addressing our whole beings rather than just our symptoms.
