About My Clients
Some of my clients find me after a lifetime of perfectionism and self-judgement, working (too) hard to make everything seem okay from the outside and paying (too) high a price for doing it. Some find me because they have experienced, or witnessed, something horrific or traumatic. Some find me because intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors are starting to take over their lives. And some find me because they feel shame and anguish around eating, sex, or their bodies.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist, I’m compassionate and direct. I believe the best therapy is grounded in up-to-date science, and I use research-backed interventions, including CBT, ERP for OCD, and DBT. I have advanced training and specialization in trauma/PTSD and conditions that involve shame, compulsions, and/or intrusive thoughts, such as OCD, hoarding, eating disorders, anxiety, and sexual disorders. I hold a fat-positive/body liberation orientation that shapes all of my work, particularly with eating disorders and body image. I also work with sexual explorations and challenges from a sex-positive, poly/kink/sex-work/CNM-affirming lens. I’m a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and no matter the focus of our time together, I am always informed by anti-racist, gender expansive, anti-oppressive political commitments. When I’m not working with private clients, I work with asylees/refugees who are survivors of torture.
