About My Clients
. I have experience working with clients dealing with issues of identity, having difficulty making meaning of their life, having difficulties related to anxiety and depression, and clients experiencing obsessive thinking or compulsions. I have found success working with clients with specific phobias and fears. I am passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals and aim to provide an open and affirming counseling experience.
My Background and Approach
I work with my clients as a team to help identify what is important to them and explore ways in which they can pursue those values. I believe in working with both the past and the present to build skills for managing current stressors and difficulties while identifying and addressing root causes of patterns of thinking and behaving that are not serving my clients. I identify as a trauma-informed therapist that acknowledges the impact of difficult past experiences on our lives. Whether you are looking to address long-present issues or work on navigating recent life changes, I am confident that as a team, we can help you move in the desired direction. I primarily use EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and compassion-focused therapy with my clients, but incorporate aspects of other therapies to fit each client's specific needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is important to me that clients understand that I am navigating the human experience like they are. Therapists are not immune to the trials of the human experience. I work with my clients from a place of compassion, acknowledging their expertise on their own experience and supporting them as a fellow traveler in the journey of life.
