About My Clients

My Background and Approach
In our work together, I will provide a safe, nonjudgemental space where you can be your authentic self as well as identify and internalize your strengths. I bring 19 years of experience and training in several evidence-based practices. I believe in collaborating with patients and I meet you where you are at all times throughout treatment. I utilize a compassionate, strength based approach. We will work together on identifying your treatment goals and developing a plan that will be effective for you. Throughout treatment, I will be providing psychoeducation and tools that will assist you to develop insight into the sources of your issues and tools that will enable you to reach your treatment goals and improve your quality of life. My specialties include substance use/misuse, anxiety, depression, adjustment to life transitions, trauma, relationship challenges, navigating toxic work environments, gender transition support, exploring sexuality and coming out, and stress management.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
One of my goals as a therapist is to remove barriers to mental health treatment for communities who traditionally do not have access to culturally sensitive therapy services. My own experience as a bi/queer, African-American identified woman and my background working in community based mental health provides me with a unique perspective and approach to my work. I use a social justice and empowerment lens in my work with clients and provide a safe space for clients to explore and obtain a greater understanding of who they are and their connection with their community and the world as a whole.
