About My Clients
Have you experienced a trauma event or a series of traumatic events? Have you ever struggled with disordered eating, eating disorder, or are wondering if you are? Maybe you're struggling with body image after trauma event? Or maybe you're in a period transition and need someone to talk to? Trauma, eating disorders, and even life transitions can be scary, isolating, and make the world feel unsafe. I hope we can connect so we can create at least one pocket of safety for you.
My Background and Approach
Previously, I have worked in eating disorder treatment, community mental health, and university counseling. I graduated with my MA in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from BU School of Medicine. My counseling foundation is rooted in person centered, humanistic and feminist theories. This means that I consider the systems, intersections of identities, and value client autonomy/collaboration when I'm working with folks. As an EMDR trained clinician, I strive to work within a trauma responsive framework which centers autonomy, grounding, harm reduction, and feeling safe within the therapy space. For specific interventions with clients, I draw heavily upon dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy(ACT), EMDR, and internal family system(IFS).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I firmly believe in consent driven, autonomy centered care for clients. I strive to create a space where all parts of yourself are able to feel safer. I believe with this foundation, we can create new narratives for ourselves that prioritize our long term liberation and joy. Therapy is a vulnerable space that can take a lot of courage to enter, I strive to honor this fact and will work with you to come up a treatment plan that meets you where you at.
