About My Clients
I have experience working with individuals with addictions (my internship was at a residential treatment facility for women). I also enjoy working with people who are going through major life transitions. But sometimes even the little transitions that can occur every day (like getting out of bed) are difficult and we need to talk about them too. Together, we can explore patterns, uncover trauma, discuss annoying family members, complain about things, and find healthy skills to cope with it all.
My Background and Approach
In my office, you can expect to cry AND laugh - whether that's by listening to a Taylor Swift song or pulling up a funny TikTok. I intend to make therapy more accessible, approachable, and relatable by meeting you where you are. Whatever you are experiencing, I want to listen and walk by your side. Together, we can untangle the mess of thoughts going on in your head and find a way to manage expectations and set healthy boundaries. Whether you want tips on navigating life stressors or are ready to dive deep into your trauma, I’ll be there to listen and support you. I typically cater my approach on a case-by-case basis but expect to talk about your childhood and how different systems (family dynamics) or lived experiences (intersectionality) are affecting the present moment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Maybe you can't remember most of your childhood or perhaps you think your experiences "weren't that bad" compared to others, which can often lead to the belief that you are not worthy of talking about it. But what would make you worthy? I believe we've all got some form of trauma and emotional baggage. If we didn't, wouldn't we all be perfect? My office is not the place to compare it to someone else's - we are not playing Oppression Olympics here. However, it is a place where we can unpack all that baggage, free of societal pressures and stigmas. I want to learn what it's like to live in your world and it would be such a privilege to understand you, all of you. I want to know how all the intersections of your identities create the absolutely wonderful and unique person that you are and how they led you to this moment. I want to support you and encourage you to recognize your strengths - kind of like that drunk girl in the bathroom who wholeheartedly believes in you.
