My Background and Approach
I graduated from Northwestern University with my Masters in Clinical Counseling after having completed my Bachelors in Psychology from Boston University. I hold a south-Asian, cisgender, and queer identity that is evident in my work as a therapist. My empathic yet direct approach encourages clients to recognize the obstacles they face and the potential sources of internal conflicts. In my office, you will feel safe and heard. You are the priority. Your thoughts and worries are laid on the table for us to carefully explore and understand. With me as your therapist, you will get a combination of clinical skill & technique, theoretical & practical application, professionalism & humanness, and genuine care. I strive to instill trust and curiosity in my clients through honesty and empathy. I utilize psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), ACT, and other therapeutic approaches to achieve treatment goals that are tailored to my client's needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
There are populations out there that I believe need more advocacy. Namely, those who are currently, and have in the past, battled with cultural and/or religious ideals that inhibit growth and cause immense psychic anxiety. My background as a gay man who has lived through a conservative Pakistani background has given me the insight needed to work with clients who feel like they have no choice but to conform.
