Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a brain disorder that is typically characterized by a lack of impulse control, an inability to focus and pay attention, and hyperactivity. ADHD most commonly emerges in children and teens and can continue into adulthood. In fact, ADHD is the most common mental health disorder diagnosed in young people and sufferers often have trouble paying attention in school. ADHD must be diagnosed by a qualified clinician. In addition to medical interventions, seeing a mental health practitioner who specializes in the treatment of ADHD can help patients and their families better cope with many of the symptoms. You're looking for someone who will be straight with you. You like to be educated about psychological concepts to understand and support your growth and healing inside and outside of sessions. You want someone who sees your uniqueness and helps you dissipate the shame with ways you may feel insecure or inadequate. You want your therapist to be a real person with you in session, someone who shares stories about their own experience in life if it helps you grow.

My clients typically feel like they are “too much”, their emotions are “too big”, and they are “too sensitive”. I invite clients to shift their thinking, and believe they are “enough” through a variety of approaches (see “my approach”). My clients are usually seeking treatment in order to increase their ability to “swim in the sea of emotions”, improve relationships with loved ones, and improve executive functioning skills (such as time management, accomplishing their to-do-list, ect).

My clients are leaders and high-level professionals. Smart, successful and strong, they often start therapy after something happens in life taking them off their usual course of success and achievement. They initially feel stressed, overwhelmed, exhausted and scared–sometimes caught in a negative cycle of worry, fear, and fatigue. Yet by using the same focus and work ethic that helps them in life in therapy, my clients make steady progress towards regaining a sense of identity AND peace of mind.

My clients tend to be individuals who struggle to advocate for themselves in relationships- whether they be work, romantic, familial or friendly. They tend to put other people's feelings before their own. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, or both. I work with a lot of people who experienced emotional neglect in childhood, and/or self centered parents, and/or very oppressive home environments.
Online Therapy
My clients are usually artists, people in helping professions or people who have a fundamental sense of being “different” from others in some important way. Though my clients sometimes doubt their strengths when they first come to therapy, I generally find that the people I work with are often thoughtful and caring. They usually come to therapy because they are trapped in a painful circumstance such as deep depression, intense anxiety or repeated difficulties in relationships.
