Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy, first developed in the 1980s by Marsha M. Linehan, to treat patients suffering from borderline personality disorder. Since then, DBT’s use has broadened and now it is regularly employed as part of a treatment plan for people struggling with behaviors or emotions they can't control. This can include eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, and more. DBT is a skills-based approach that focuses on helping people increase their emotional and cognitive control by learning the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviors. Once triggers are identified, DBT teaches coping skills that include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. A therapist specializing in DBT will help you to enhance your own capabilities, improve your motivation, provide support in-the-moment, and better manage your own life with problem-solving strategies. Think this approach might work for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s DBT specialists today.
Most of my work focuses on working with folks in the LGBTQIA spectrum to heal trauma, improve relationships, explore sex and develop a sense of wellbeing. During our initial sessions we will explore your life, your issues, and your goals to build a collaborative way forward. Throughout our work we will look to build insight and shine a light on all of the pieces that make you, you.

My primary clinical focus has been treating adults from diverse backgrounds with anxiety and panic disorders, mood disorders, trauma, self-esteem issues, relational distress, adjustment, and multicultural issues. I draw upon principles of CBT, Narrative and Trauma Therapy, Inner Child Work, Attachment theory, Psychodynamic Theory, and Mindfulness-Based Practices and have experience with individual and group work in South Asia and U.S.A.
Before private practice, I worked with the child welfare system, supporting children, teens, and families facing housing instability, mental illness, domestic violence, and trauma. In private practice, I discovered my passion for neurodiversity, specializing in neurodevelopmental disorders. I also support clients with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, personality disorders, and stressors related to abuse, life transitions, family conflict, and self-esteem.
I blend a variety of therapeutic techniques—EMDR, CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy—with a touch of humor— to create a dynamic, personalized approach to healing. Therapy is not a "one size fits all" solution, so collaborating with my clients to find what tools and strategies work best for each person is important to me. At the end of the day, you are the master of your own experience!
