Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy, first developed in the 1980s by Marsha M. Linehan, to treat patients suffering from borderline personality disorder. Since then, DBT’s use has broadened and now it is regularly employed as part of a treatment plan for people struggling with behaviors or emotions they can't control. This can include eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, and more. DBT is a skills-based approach that focuses on helping people increase their emotional and cognitive control by learning the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviors. Once triggers are identified, DBT teaches coping skills that include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. A therapist specializing in DBT will help you to enhance your own capabilities, improve your motivation, provide support in-the-moment, and better manage your own life with problem-solving strategies. Think this approach might work for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s DBT specialists today.

My clients come to me having experienced a wide array of symptoms that can range from difficulties with the ability to trust others to feelings of anxiety or hyper-vigilance to feelings of hopelessness. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, anger management, low-self esteem, ADHD, relational difficulties and interpersonal communication issues. I currently work in intensive inpatient and outpatient settings, working populations struggling with self-harm, suicidal ideation, PTSD, and severe depression. Have you ever thought there was a more authentic version of yourself? One that is just under the surface, but is held back by the things that have happened to you? Maybe you’ve glimpsed this version of yourself in the eyes of someone who truly loves you, who really “gets” you, like a grandparent, a teacher, or a friend. Spoiler alert: This can be you all of the time! I work with adults who feel stuck in their lives, or like they’re not living in their truth.

I create a space for young people to grow into the best versions of themselves and ask for help when they need it. Many of my clients are new to therapy and may feel hesitant about seeking care, but throughout our work together see the positive experiences it can open up.

My therapeutic work engages a wide range of clients, but I specialize in working with teens and young adults moving through relationship issues, grief, depression, or anxiety. Whether you’re experiencing loss, grappling with a life transition, or exploring how your past relates to your present, I’ll collaborate with you to identify specific goals and guide the therapy space in the direction that best supports your needs.

I help clients accept reality as it is, to be themselves and to enjoy being themselves. Internal harmony is essential to human happiness. In sessions, clients discover the totality of their personhood, come to appreciate being alive, to thrive rather than to simply survive. By making space for their inner selves, my clients come away from therapy with the ability to live life authentically.

At Resilience Lab I work with individuals who carry this struggle as they face issues like depression, anxiety, and trauma. I also love working with young millennials or any young adults experiencing “quarter-life crises”. Having immigrated to the US, I'm also able to work with immigrants who are dealing with culture shock. Sometimes, you don't want to have to explain everything to your therapist. If you want a therapist who gets it- the culture, the norms, the transition- let’s work together.
