Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is an injury caused by a blow to the head that causes loss of consciousness, dizziness or post traumatic amnesia. Following the initial 3-month recovery period it may be helpful to have a neuropsychological assessment to track cognitive changes. Psychotherapy can also be helpful for those with persistent issues also referred to as post-concussion syndrome (PCS). Common difficulties often include sensory overstimulation, fatigue, and problems containing emotions. In therapy you can learn skills to adjust to your challenges and increase your quality of life. Specialists who understand TBI can validate your experience, help you learn how to adapt to your new life and grieve the changes that have come from your injury.

I'm a neurodivergent, disabled TCK with a dark sense of humor, and I often swear in session. I’m deeply empathetic and brutally honest. I especially love working with other neurodivergent adults (18+), HSPs, spoonies/zebras, gamers, LGBTQIA+ folx, and anyone who doesn’t fit society’s standard mold. I also specialize in helping people who have been harmed or neglected by the medical system, those with invisible illnesses/disabilities, and those who are still searching for a diagnosis.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

In a world of constant change, it is easy to feel overwhelmed with negative emotions. But when was the last time you took a moment to slow down, reflect, and really process everything going on in your life? I feel when we take the time to slow down we can discover more about what's affecting us currently and what may have affected us from past events. However, if we keep pushing forward without considering slowing down or reflecting that's when burnout, stress, and even trauma can build up.

My passion is helping military families, combat veterans, spouses and couples. With my personal background and experiences with combat trauma, I became a therapist to keep other spouses from going through what I did and helping them to cope with PTSD/TBI before it gets out of control.
