About My Clients
I'm passionate about helping clients step away from the exhausting cycle of dieting and anxiety to find a more peaceful relationship with their body and food. The constant pursuit of thinness and perfection pushes us into a restrict/binge cycle that leaves us feeling out of control. I work with people in all bodies and stages of life. Whether you are 19 years old trying to figure out to how to be an adult, or 57 redefining your relationship with health and aging, you don't have to do it alone!
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic style is rooted in somatic and trauma informed approaches. So often we walk around like a floating head, disconnected from our bodies, unable to name how we feel or what we need. I want therapy is a place where people can feel more connected, learn new skills and push themselves through discomfort in a safe environment. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) might be a good fit for you if you've tried talk therapy and want something new. I also bring in tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support people in defining their values and practicing mindfulness in every day life to tolerate uncomfortable emotions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Above all I wholly respect my client's autonomy and ability to make decisions for themselves. You don't have to be ready to change to start therapy! I enjoy helping people uncover and explore their readiness to change and feel empowered to take steps toward a life more aligned with their values. I am a weight inclusive, anti diet therapist that draws from the principles of intuitive eating. In a world that tells us to be small, quiet and attractive, it's a radical act to love yourself in the body you're in. I help people do just that.
