About My Clients
My previous practice experiences and focuses have best equipped me to work with queer & trans adults, multiracial/multicultural adults, and anyone who is navigating chronic stress related to system and environmental concerns. My clients are often creative, neurodiverse, in caregiving or community-care work, pursuing or working in higher education, and/or hoping to strengthen their relational experiences. My Background and Approach
I was trained in systemic theory and have brought into my practice my beliefs in feminism, social and racial justice, restorative and non-disposability practices, harm reduction, and anti-punitive/anti-oppressive approaches. I work from narrative, collaborative, EMDR, and somatic therapies. My approach is trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive. I aim to be gentle and gingerly when it most matters, while also noticing the moments where directness and deliberate action is needed. In my work I have supported queer and trans clients in receiving gender affirming care, providing letters of readiness where needed. Whether the focus is on gender, sexuality, or race, we often work on identity integration--taking our intersecting and sometimes conflicting identities and making room for them to interact in new ways within ourselves. To feel integrated, less anxiety about our self-concept or self-image, and to be able to bring those identity into our relationships and communities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Informed by my lived experiences as a multiracial, queer, disabled, as well as being the child of an immigrant, I value: ᓫIndigenous sovereignty, land back, and reparations for descendants of chattel slavery. ᓫ Bodily autonomy and freedom of self-expression, which includes comprehensive resources for gender/sex-based concerns. ᓫ An end to Genocide in Palestine, Sudan, Darfur, Myanmar, Xinjiang, and all other places impacted. ᓫ Restorative Practices and non-disposability politics. ᓫ Coalition building, class solidarity, mutual aid, and community care. ᓫ Trauma informed, non-carceral schooling that returns autonomy and freedom to children. ᓫ Abolition of the prison system and the police system. ᓫ An end to the conditions of colonization, including but not limited to: racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, classism, antisemitism, islamophobia, and xenophobia. ᓫ Love and respect for our great planet and all things that exist within. I invite specific questions on my values.
