About My Clients
I specialize in trauma-informed, polyvagal-guided, creative care for women seeking recovery from addictive patterns, unhealthy relationships with Self and others, and emotional dysregulation related to experiences with abuse.
My Background and Approach
My therapy practice is deeply grounded in my own psychological growth and development work, with over 25 years of personal therapy and professional/clinical experience studying and practicing a variety of psychotherapies for trauma healing. My practice is guided by the polyvagal theory of the autonomic nervous system, Laurel Parnell's Attachment-Focused EMDR, Pia Mellody's Post-Induction Therapy model, feminist theory, family systems, attachment theory, depth psychology, somatic-based psychotherapies, and trauma & addiction studies. I am neuro-inclusive, neuro-affirming, and trauma-informed and aim to help clients develop a deep and fulfilling relationship with their own nervous system as a source of inner wisdom and trustworthy guide.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The “self as instrument” perspective is at the crux of my work. This places responsibility on the therapist to do their own therapy and suggests that a therapist can only take their clients as far as they have personally gone in their own healing process. I am also a feminist therapist, which means I center working with women, actively consider and examine the influence of sexism, and utilize a collaborative approach to treatment. As a late-diagnosed autistic/ADHDer, I have come to fully trust in the innate capacity of the human being to heal following painful life experiences and use the tools that have been most useful in my own journey in my work, as well as continue to learn and explore new evidence-based best practices in the field.
