Life can be overwhelming at times. Perhaps you identify with the idea that you've “always just been an anxious person.” You may have tried to connect with feelings of peace and have started to wonder if it's even possible. Whether you are navigating uncertainty about your relationships, career, or identity, trying to make sense of something troublesome from the past, coping with panic in unclear situations, or simply looking for direction in living your best life, I am here to offer support.
My Background and Approach
My initial experiences in the mental health field were as a crisis counselor and a research assistant. One lab focused on psychotic disorders and the other focused on the healthy development of gifted children. Since then, I have worked in outpatient, intensive outpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and inpatient settings addressing a variety of concerns. My goal as a therapist is for you to feel valued and heard without judgment. I integrate a number of evidence based theories to help in collaboratively identifying how to meet your individual needs holistically. This may include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR or exposure-based approaches, as well as expressive techniques with existential-humanism and compassion as a foundation. I traditionally provide a semi-structured approach that can be tailored to individual preferences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As the child of a Filipino immigrant and member of the LGBTQIA+ community who has walked my own personal journey through aversive and transformative experiences, I am passionate about being an ally and advocate to those who have experienced forms of oppression. The journey to restoration and empowerment can be a tough one. However, living the future you envision is worth every step forward. In my personal life, I am passionate about spending time with friends, family, and my two dogs. I am an avid reader and love attending concerts and festivals. I enjoy meditation, connecting with nature, and enjoying the present moment. I am available for consultation via phone and video chat. I look forward to hearing from you.
