About My Clients
I love working with adolescents and adults who are working through transitions, managing moods, managing relationships, building self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-confidence, or coping with stress. I also work as a professional actor in the Twin Cities (Chanhassen DT, Ordway, Theatre Latte Da, Etc). I think my performance work makes me a better listener and communicator and I enjoy working with other artists.
My Background and Approach
I work hard to establish a REAL connection with my clients and I’m willing to share my thoughts and feelings as well. I refuse to be the cold, clinical therapist! The most important aspect to therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. If we don’t connect and build trust, therapeutic techniques can’t be effective. In our sessions together, we will spend time building trust in each other so that you can effectively explore your thoughts and feelings and have room to do the growing YOU want to do. I will follow your lead. Along the way I will use a technique called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help give you coping skills and new mental strategies for dealing with unhelpful thoughts. I will allow work with you to identify strengths and self-esteem/confidence in order to overcome your challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
One thing to know about my personal beliefs is that I try to be accepting and affirming of everyone. I don’t see it as my job to put my beliefs or values onto you, but rather to help you discover what is important and valuable to you. I was raised Catholic and appreciate my Christian upbringing, but I’m still figuring things out spiritually. I’m willing to incorporate faith into sessions if that is important to you, but it is not my primary modality. Not all of my religious experience has been positive, so I’m open to talking about religious issues with you too, but without judging or rejecting religion outright either. At the end of the day, these sessions are for you and I will support you to be the best version of yourself; and YOU decide who that person is. I’m strongly, proudly LGBTQ+ and BIPOC allied. I can’t wait to meet you.
