About My Clients
Is this you? You get invited to go out to dinner with a friend, and instead of being excited to catch up, you're worrying about what you should wear, what you should talk about (or not talk about), if they only asked you to dinner because they feel bad for you, or researching where you should park or what you should get off the menu... I can help you reduce these fear based thoughts and live in the moment, allowing yourself to feel free and at ease living your life.
My Background and Approach
My eclectic style of therapy is not a one size fits all approach, but rather, combines several different therapeutic approaches to ensure the best fit for my clients needs. My goal is for you to move through life knowing you have the skills necessary to handle life's stressors, so I make sure to talk with you to learn what type of techniques may work best in your life. Some people thrive on being provided with worksheets to follow to challenge and breakdown their unhelpful thinking patters, while other's prefer more mindful, self directed activities such deep breathing techniques. Whatever your preferred style is, I can give you a tool to help you find a moment of calm in whatever your struggle is. I have participated in many trainings to ensure I am up-to-date on the best practices in the issues my client's struggle with that include, but are not limited, to grief, compassion focused therapy, ACT, gender affirming care, anxiety disorders, suicide prevention, and more.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people have the ability to change. It is not easy, but I have seen it done time and time again. I am constantly amazed by the strength, determination, empathy, and compassion of my clients and believe that each and everyone one deserve to feel heard and feel understood. As someone who has dealt with anxiety of their own, I feel deeply connected and empathetic to my client's with anxiety disorders. I want my clients to know that what they are feeling is not "all in their head" or make them "crazy". I want them to know that things CAN get better with the right support, skills and dedication to improving oneself. I am a feminist who deeply believes in Black Lives Matter, and am dedicated to ensure that the LGBTQ+ community that I serve feels safe and at home in my space.
