About My Clients
My work experience includes working at many clinics, centers and programs. I’ve worked with a variety of clients of different ages and backgrounds- those struggling with severe psychiatric mental illnesses, substance and process addictions, anxiety disorders, couples dealing with a wide range of relational problems, etc.
My Background and Approach
I am an EMDR Certified psychotherapist and a Certified Attachment-Focused EMDR therapist. Additionally, I am a consultant in training. My additional trainings including Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Polyvagal Framework for nervous system regulation. While these are the modalities I highly recommend and love practicing, I often utilize other modalities such as DBT, IFS, CBT, etc. I am a Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist, another research-based therapy method specifically for couples. I give feedback and guide couples. I am not there just as a “witness” to your ongoing conflict and problems. Couples come to see me for pre-marital counseling, healing from betrayal and infidelity, developing better communication skills, parenting, etc. I am trained and have extensive experience working with couples where one or both partners are in recovery from addictions and couples who are healing after infidelity and betrayal trauma (including partners of sex addicts).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My belief is that therapy should be supportive and trauma-informed. Additionally, it should be culturally sensitive and consider all the layers of one’s identity, including gender, race and sexuality. I am aware of the complex impact of trauma (any perceived trauma, no matter how big or small. Anything that’s been hurtful to your heart can be traumatic and leave an impact) on an individual and a relationship. My approach integrates this knowledge into every aspect of your treatment. While I give clients coping skills using a variety of therapeutic modalities, the goal is always to get to the core of the problem.
