Exploring sexuality and gender identity can be extremely difficult due to the oppression the LGBTQIA2S+ community can experience. Coming out can feel like a daunting task when done alone. Growing up religious and realizing you don't want to identify as religious anymore can be painful as you've spent years devoted to a religion that is exclusive of your identities. You're looking to find a way to live authentically as yourself.
My Background and Approach
I know firsthand healing and hope is possible because I have sat on the other side of the room. I'm a queer therapist who practices from an attachment-based, LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, anti-oppressive, and Health at Every Size Approach. My experience includes working with those who are exploring their gender identity and/or sexuality, teenagers, those who are coming out, and those who have experienced religious trauma. My work includes helping people heal childhood wounds and regain healthy attachments with those around them. I specialize in working with teenagers, college students, and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma with the goal of improving their mental health to begin building a life worth living.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer therapist, I understand how essential community is and how vital it is to have a community that not only supports, but celebrates your gender identity and sexuality. As a fat person, I know how extremely difficult it can be to exist in a body that society deems less acceptable. Anti-racism and social justice work is at the core of my therapeutic work. I won't pretend to know what it's like to be you or to know what the oppression you experience is like for you. I believe you are the expert of your experience - I'm here to learn from and with you. Fat acceptance, sex positivity, kink, and polyamory relationships are celebrated in my therapeutic practice.
