About My Clients
It can be a powerful time for trauma work when starting a family of your own. Often my clients are young adults and new parents who are highly self critical to avoid being with messiness and what cannot be controlled. They use alcohol, substances, food, exercise, work/ busyness or caretaking to manage or stay away from feelings. Often they expect the worst and prepare to self protect and can be overly focused on the people around them. My clients share about anxiety or depression since childhood
My Background and Approach
Some of my clients have received PTSD, C-PTSD or BPD diagnoses in the past. Others don’t believe they have experienced trauma yet have an outsized emphasis on doing 'right' and being 'good'. I treat individuals who have experienced developmental and complex trauma, sexual violence, childhood abuse and neglect, emotional dysregulation and/or problematic coping behaviors. I have specialized training in addiction medicine, LGBTQ+ community issues, perinatal loss, anxiety around birth and birth trauma and often support other helping professionals through pregnancy and postpartum. I tend to work from a variety of perspectives based in attachment theory, Polyvagal Theory, the Structural Dissociation model, parts work/IFS, somatic modalities, mindfulness and self compassion. I am a member of the Trauma Therapist Network and Postpartum Support International.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I’m an optimist, lifelong learner and big reader. I am an extrovert and feel energized by my clients and the work we do. I view the therapeutic relationship as a sacred space to nurture post traumatic growth and the discovery of a greater sense of choice, freedom, wisdom, strength and peace.
