About My Clients
Are you experiencing pain or distress over a recent life transition such as a new job, new location, recent relationship change, identity, or anything that has made you feel as if life is moving too fast, or it's too much to handle? Change is a difficult but necessary part of life, and I am here to help you identify the unique traits and strengths you have to navigate it and regain your sense of wellness and peace.
My Background and Approach
My previous work experience includes crisis intervention, adolescents experiencing identity issues, self-harm, or bullying in the K-14 environment, career and college counseling, teaching, and disability rights. I have a special interest in helping others achieve healthy relationships and boundaries, resolve issues surrounding identity and life transitions, parenting, women’s issues, religious trauma, complicated grief, and trauma recovery. I use a holistic lens when working with clients and strongly believe that the spirit, mind, and body must be addressed in order to achieve maximum success in therapy. Because everyone responds to therapy differently, therapeutic approaches are personalized to you depending on your personality, your goals, and the issues you are wanting to explore. My goal as a therapist is to help you identify and learn to use the strengths you already possess so you can be empowered to live the life you truly want.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist with a social work background, I am committed to the field’s core values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. In keeping with these values, I am passionate about serving marginalized rural communities, including the religion-less or those questioning their faith, LGBTQ individuals, BPOC and POC, women, adolescents and teens, low-income individuals, those with disabilities, and those involved in the criminal justice system. I utilize both social justice and equity approaches to my therapeutic practice, and I am committed to providing a safe space for clients to explore who they really are and what they really want out of the lives they lead. I don't believe that therapists should just be blank slates for their clients, so I value authenticity, honesty, and compassion in my therapeutic relationships. Whatever you're dealing with, you're not alone, and together we can figure it out.
