About My Clients
We are committed to helping individuals from diverse cultures and communities feel accepted and understood. It is my hope that our clients feel as if they have finally found a judgment-free space where they can explore who they are, what they want out of life, and walk in the light of their glow. We work with members of the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, in areas of anxiety, depression, identity exploration, OCD, self-acceptance, religious dissonance, grief, trauma & PTSD, and coping skills.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC-MHSP) who has been working as a therapist in private practice since 2013. I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which helps many individuals process their trauma more effectively. All of the therapists in our practice love helping individuals focus on mindfulness and coping skills in their everyday life, so they feel better equipped to remain grounded through life's uncertainties.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We have come from communities and environments where we have not always felt seen, understood or safe. We have experienced shame, fear, hopelessness and disconnection from our bodies and spirits. We have lived in a world of oppression, hatred, harm, and have had love withheld. We have been hurt by society, our communities, the church, our schools, families, and our places of work. We have had moments of protesting and hating who we are, moments longing to be anyone other than who we are. We have harmed our bodies because we felt betrayed by them. Our minds have believed the narrative that we are not worthy of healing, belonging, community, safety and love. It is my belief that it does not have to be this way, and it is my hope that we can start the changing together. Healing and changing may not be easy and we do it anyway, because we believe that healing in the margins is how we will change the world!
