About My Clients
I help adults and older teens move through body image concerns, complex trauma, disordered eating, people pleasing, boundaries (or lack thereof) and many other issues that can make life much more difficult than it should have to be. Together we will explore deep seated wounds and make contact with our internal protective parts to untangle painful messaging that affects how we view the world, our relationships, and ourselves.
My Background and Approach
While most of my background has been with dismantling diet culture and eating disorders (with a specialty in Binge Eating Disorder), I have experience with complex trauma, anxiety, depression, people pleasing, boundaries, and PTSD. I am a Health at Every Size (HAES) aligned, LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma informed, and body positive therapist, who continues to push on my own edges and biases to be a better therapist and human being. My goal is helping clients in identifying and exploring the varying parts within themselves that experience grief, joy, and pain to move through wounds that continue to affect mind/body connection, ability to be vulnerable, and feelings of self worth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all have the potential to heal and gain trust within ourselves, and my goal is to foster a connection to allow vulnerability and collaboration. I work from a “power with” philosophy, meaning I am certainly not the expert on your life, but I hope to be a part of your team. To do this, I put great emphasis on establishing a rapport by showing up authentically, using humor and compassion, and keeping any agenda out of the door. Personally, If I am not nerding out around parts work or the brain, I am listening to records, playing with my cats, collecting cookbooks, attempting to roller skate, and scream singing show tunes (much to my wife’s chagrin).
