About My Clients

My clients are teens/adults who feel like outsiders (anxiety, ADHD, autism). They are the ones that, no matter how hard they try, cannot seem to find the right balance between what feels comfortable for them, and what is expected. We work together to celebrate your strengths but also find creative solutions for your weaknesses. With an understanding of neurodiversity in brains, we can help you achieve whatever you desire, not by changing you, but by giving you new tools, skills, and perspective.

My Background and Approach

Neurodiversity is the idea that ALL brains are different, because there is biodiversity in everything in nature! Someone who may have a "weakness" in attention is not necessarily disordered, but has been forced to fit their brain into a neurotypical world with neurotypical expectations. At Chameleon Counseling, we help you understand your brain, while also giving you tools and strategies to help yourself reach your goals. This is done through IFS (parts work), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Skill building (such as emotion regulation, coping strategies, executive functioning, relationship skills, etc).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in meeting clients where they are at. I do not push them to talk, or discuss traumas that they aren't yet ready to discuss. Therapy is "magic", in that what is brought up during therapy is what is meant to be discussed. I also believe in neurodiversity, in that all brains are supposed to be different, and what gets in our way is societal expectations for how we "should" be. I do not want to change anyone, but instead help them find their own unique way of navigating their lives. As a social worker, I'm an ally to progressive ideals such as Pro-Choice, Black Lives Matter, Universal Healthcare, and LGBTQ+. I'm open to different lifestyles, including non-mongamy or polyamorous relationships. I volunteer with the Red Cross Disaster Mental Health team and with animal rescues (I foster rescue dogs).
