About My Clients
In a world where it is easy to become numb to our strengths, creativity, and modes of expression, it is important to take time to reconnect to aspects of play and our imaginations. It can be difficult to access certain topics through only verbal means. Depending on your needs, preferences, and affinities, we can explore psychotherapy tools and engage in reflective conversations. We can explore art, music, movement, drama, poetry, narratives, and/or video games to promote a sense of wellness.
My Background and Approach
My eclectic practice includes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed, relational, liberated, person-centered, and humanistic approaches. Talk therapy is at the core of our therapeutic relationship, but my background in music therapy and expressive arts therapy allows me to meet you where you are at through the many modes of expression. Expressive arts therapy can be a less confrontative way of accessing intense emotional content while reconnecting with oneself. Our work together is about self-exploration and finding internal resources. When we explore how we express ourselves, we can get a better grasp on processing and validating emotions, increase problem-solving through expanding the imagination and perspectives, reconnecting our thoughts to our body, ground ourselves during relational stressors, reframe our response to trauma, and increase cognitive flexibility.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I invite you to come express yourself, freely. My work is person-centered in that I will meet you where you are at, with compassion and a nonjudgmental, open mind. My work is also about liberation as we can work through stagnant micro and macro complex narratives in order for you to define your story. I hold myself accountable to high expectations of respecting human dignity. I acknowledge that we are all learning and growing together. You are the expert of your journey, I look forward to supporting you during this process.
