About My Clients

I work with clients seeking to better understand and love themselves in order to grow and heal. I am particularly passionate about working with people who come from fundamentalist religious backgrounds and purity culture. This work often includes healing from religious trauma and reclaiming your connection to your body, sexuality, and spirit. Many religions teach us that we're broken and need saving. We can work together to help you unlearn that messaging and begin to thrive.

My Background and Approach

I use a framework of intersectional feminism, queer theory, and internalized oppression. I am trauma informed and I always operate from a place of encouraging self-acceptance and empowerment. I believe that the systems we are a part of, whether they be our personal relationships or larger social and cultural structures, impact us deeply. My approach to therapy often utilizes general systems theory, an internalized oppression model, and existential therapy. I start with a holistic, humanistic approach that prioritizes every client’s lived experience. I also incorporate Narrative Therapy and Attachment Theory. Additionally, I encourage clients to connect with their physical selves through Polyvagal theory and somatic experiencing.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My personal value system is based on ideas of equity, justice, and our individual right to flourish. I believe that all people are inherently deserving of intimacy, compassion, and love. Often, the biggest challenge is giving these things to ourselves. Only through coming to understand and love ourselves can we understand and love the world around us and the people in it. Many of us have internalized the messaging that we don’t deserve to have our needs met, whether that messaging came from our family, our romantic partners, or culture at large. I believe in the inherent potential of all people to grow, change, and find their best selves. This applies equally to my work with individuals and relationships: we can best love our partners when we best love ourselves. I believe that giving ourselves this love means we must see, critique, and do what is within our power to dismantle the systems that have left us believing we are unworthy or less than.
