About My Clients
It can be hard to find a therapist that you know is fully a safe place in Tennessee—I know this from first-hand experience, trying to identify LGBTQ+ competent therapists in the past. I am not only LGBTQ+ competent, but am part of the community myself, and have a passion for working with others as they work through their identities, life stressors, or past traumas. I strive to center your identity and your experiences in our work, no matter what those experiences are.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive experience with clients from many different backgrounds and identities. I use a variety of tools, including CBT, mindfulness, and art and play in therapy, so that I can find the tools that fit best for each client. I give space for your voice to be centered in our work, and work collaboratively with you to identify what you’re struggling with and how we can best address it and manage it not just in our sessions, but in your daily life. My goal is for you to skills you can turn to in the long-term, and have the resources you need within your reach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the most important voice in therapy is the client’s voice, and that everyone has the capacity for growth and change. I believe that Black lives matter and that fighting for equal rights and treatment is crucial to being a good therapist. I believe that love is love, and that equal rights need to extend to and be protected for gender identity and sexuality. I believe that everyone can unlearn unhealthy patterns, and that everyone is deserving of respect and worthy of love regardless of who they are. I also believe that everyone deserves fun in their lives, whether that’s hikes, crochet, books, video games, or sports—or all of the above!
