I see counseling through a trauma-informed lens; your present and your past can both be addressed based upon your needs. My Background and Approach
My approach is to put you as the client first. We can work together to determine your needs and the path that will be most helpful to you. I utilize mindfulness and cognitive therapy to help clients learn to respond rather than to just react. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy helps clients focus on the present, their internalized thoughts, and how to make those thoughts work best for their life. EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a technique that can help enable people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that may have resulted from disturbing experiences. I can integrate EMDR as a brief focused treatment as part of a client’s therapy or it may be used as the focus for a client’s therapy. I am also a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor and may incorporate some calming techniques and/or somatic movements to allow the body to release stuck emotions.
