About My Clients
I primarily work with young adults and adults dealing with issues related to coming out, gender dysphoria, gender transition, anxiety, and ADHD. I also specialize in treating the siblings of substance users and have done original research on the impact addiction has on these individuals across the lifespan.
My Background and Approach
My background draws from training in the humanities and sciences. I am especially skilled at identifying recurring themes or patterns in a person's life (both strengths and challenges) to help clients see themselves in a way that contextualizes problems and uses strengths to address and change unhelpful patterns. I have been providing therapy and evaluations since 2011, working within schools, community health centers, assessment clinics, and now in private practice. I earned a Doctoral of Clinical Psychology in 2017, entered post-doctoral training, and became a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in 2019. My training and research allowed me to specialize in serving special populations, with whom it remains an honor to work. Therapy focuses on anxiety management, ADHD, gender dysphoria, and the process of transitioning (if desired), coming out, improving self-esteem, connection to community, relationship skills, and family conflict.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that working with special populations means doing extensive and ongoing training. I have been providing psychotherapy to the queer, transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming community for over eight years. I offer consultation services and have led workshops on gender diversity to health care agencies, schools, and the greater community. I have completed over 50 hours of continuing education encompassing the mental and physical health conditions associated with gender dysphoria/gender identity disorder, including the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Global Education Initiative Foundations Course and the Global Education Initiative Advanced Mental Health Course. I regularly attend trainings to ensure I am up to date on current research, diagnostics, and treatment.
