About My Clients
People often begin therapy when struggling with overwhelming feelings or challenging behavior at home or school. I help folks better understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how to make changes within that paradigm. With my clients, I aim to establish trust and encourage open talks about emotions, identity and connections with others.
My Background and Approach
I practice from a developmental, psychodynamic framework, integrating techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment theory, family systems, and mindfulness. My extensive experience in schools affords me particular expertise with respect to issues faced by school-age children. I often times work with people who may be considered sensitive, anxious, reactive, intense, creative, and who sometimes struggle with self-regulation. I’m also aware of the specific support needed for people identifying as gifted, talented, and neurodivergent. I’m a big proponent of arts in education, and having a performing arts background myself, I understand firsthand the protective factors the arts can offer as well as the clinical and developmental considerations in treatment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I use a collaborative, interactive approach that is tailored to individual needs. Through regular sessions in a safe, confidential environment, my clients can gain clarity into counterproductive patterns that are not serving them well, and find ways to shift towards healthier more effective behaviors to create lasting change. I continually strive to be a culturally competent therapist and supporter of anti-bias and neuroinclusive work.
