About My Clients
I specialize in working with eating disorders, abuse and trauma, LGBTQ+ identities, and anxiety/social anxiety. I have also worked with a range of other presenting issues including depression, interpersonal struggles, family of origin, grief and loss, self-esteem and identity, and spirituality. I have worked extensively with college students but am comfortable working with adults of all ages and life circumstances.
My Background and Approach
I am highly collaborative and active in therapy, utilizing an interpersonal, feminist, and multicultural approach to help us combine your life experiences and identities with my professional knowledge to create a plan for therapy. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and often incorporate these techniques into my therapy. We will work collaboratively together to set flexible goals for treatment. In session I will create space for you to talk about things going on in your life while also helping us to connect to larger themes and make progress on goals. I utilize a wide-variety of interventions based on what works well for you, and we will check-in frequently to see how the process is going for you and to make changes as needed. On a personal note, I live with my wife, three children, dogs, and cats and spend my free time cooking, baking and reading. I look forward to working with you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a feminist, multicultural therapist who believes that many of people's struggles are caused or exacerbated by the cultural context in which they live. I believe that people are profoundly impacted by systemic racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, poverty, and other oppressive symptoms and I strive to do therapy with an understanding of how these systems are impacting each client I see. I identify as a cis, white, lesbian woman and I work hard to continue to understand the impact and responsibility of my privilege and to hold myself accountable to making change within myself, in others, and systemically.
