About My Clients
I am most passionate about working with diverse under-served clients (i.e., Black/BIPOC and older adults). In my work with clients, I help them identify barriers to living the life of their dreams and help them align with their values and goals to move closer to their vision. I aim to instill hope, encourage clients to take risks, bet on themselves, and do what matters.
My Background and Approach
I dedicated the early part of my career to serving under-served populations, particularly older adults and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous & People of Color). I graduated from Grambling State University with a BA in Psychology and then from The University of Iowa with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. I went on to complete my nationally accredited pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Palo Alto Health Care System in northern California. I have worked in a wide variety of settings including hospitals, group practices, client’s homes, and virtually. I specialize in treating grief, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and trauma. My approach to therapy involves unpacking the past which may shape your narrative around loss, your identity, and relationships. I use this information to challenge those perceptions and narratives (as needed), help you connect with your values, and live life fully.
